Company Background:
The HORD team is nationally known for our world class swine production and is currently looking for individuals to add to our production team. This position offers full training, opportunities for promotion and encompasses all aspects of animal care. No prior swine experience is needed and you will work in a climate controlled environment.
Job Details: This key position is responsible for the daily care, health, and maintenance of all sows and piglets to assure optimum productivity. This person will assist where needed working with animals and light facility repair and maintenance.
This is an entry-level opportunity that provides hands-on experience in areas such as:
Vaccination
Breeding and gestation
Farrowing
Record keeping
The ideal candidate will have the desire to work with pigs, a willingness to learn, a high level of dependability as evidenced with a solid work history, and a proven record of drive for excellence.
Duties:
Adhere to bio-security, animal well-being and safety policies
Care and management of animals and facilities
Perform various tasks associated with herd production such as
Vaccination of sows
Power washing
Weaning
Heat detection
Artificial insemination
Pregnancy checks
Vaccination and castration of piglets
Familiarize oneself with department/unit/company objectives and measure progress through record-keeping protocols
Qualifications:
Candidates must not currently own or have routine contact with swine.
Prior agricultural experience preferred, but not required
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Display a high level of respect to team members and animals
Willingness to learn and carry out complex instructions effectively
Impeccable record of reliability/dependability
Desire and ability to work in a physically strenuous environment
